In a year that celebrates the 500^th anniversary of Magalhães Elcano's first circumnavigation voyage, Portugal is hosting the New York's Explorers Club Summit, the GLEx - Global Exploration Summit, from July 3^rd to 5^th. The club is dedicated to sea, land, air and space exploration.

Celebrating the first planetary circumnavigation voyage, the event will feature 400 participants. The summit, dedicated to space exploration, oceans, nature conservation, archeology and technology applied to scientific exploration, will be supported by Turismo de Portugal and in collaboration with Estrutura de Missão for the celebration of the 500^th anniversary years of the circumnavigation voyage.

The Explorers Club was founded in 1904 and has 3,500 members, including names such as Elon Musk (Tesla and Space X), James Cameron (filmmaker) and Jeff Bezos (Amazon).
