1. General Terms

Turismo de Portugal, I.P., manages this website and its objective is to provide information related to hotels, venues and suppliers for users wishing to organise their events in Portugal.

The portal has no profit goals, and there is no commercial or other interest in the content selection presented. The portal content is produced based on editorial and marketing criteria with the sole intention of favouring the choice of Portugal as an event destination.

Terms of Use must be read before any website access.

Using and accessing the portal by the user implies acceptance of its terms and conditions, without any reservation. In case users disagree with these terms, they must cease navigation immediately.

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. reserves the right to change the portal's layout and configuration at any time, as well as its terms of use and conditions. Users are therefore advised to previously check these terms and conditions whenever they access the portal.

2. Ownership Rights

All content in the portal, namely texts, photographs, images, illustrations, drawings, graphics, engravings, trademarks, logos, advertising, audio or video material, webdesign and software or any other distinctive signs susceptible of commercial and industrial use, are protected in the general terms of law and by legislation on intellectual and industrial property, copyright and related rights, and may not be used outside the portal without prior written consent of Turismo de Portugal, IP..

Without prejudice to the previously mentioned, users may download or copy portal content strictly for personal use.

It is strictly prohibited to use this website for illegal purposes or for those that may be considered unworthy of Turismo de Portugal, I.P.'s image.

Usurpation, counterfeiting, benefitting from usurped or counterfeited content, illegitimate identification and unfair competition are criminally punishable.

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. reserves the right to take legal action against the authors of any copy, reproduction or other unauthorised use of this portal's content by third parties.

3. Privacy

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. fully respects the right to privacy of portal users, which is why, out of principle, we do not capture or use navigation information associated with users identification, limiting the personal information to that voluntarily provided by users, being exclusively used for the intended purposes.

In addition to the foregoing, it should be clarified that this website collects and uses the following information, in line with the 'cookies' policy:

- users country of origin, in order to improve the alignment between their objectives and interests and information shown;
- that explicitly indicated by users about content and other pages, and that are stored between visits (for users with cookies or login), so that the portal can provide a support service for users planning an event in Portugal;
- that explicitly indicated by users on their profile and interests, in order to show content that best identify with them;
- users identification of those who register, subscribe to newsletters or request information, regardless of the computer they use, creating a 'login' consisting of an email address and a password.

Any type of interaction with this website will be registered for the purposes of quality control and reporting, namely, but not exclusively, that submitted for registration purposes, enquiries, webchat and contests.

Users can rectify or update personal data on the portal in the Registration / Profile area.

Users can also request on the portal the inactivation of their accounts, in which case all data about "Profile" and content added will be eliminated, as well as the newsletter subscription cancelled. Inactivation of the account does not, however, mean erasing registration data, namely for historical purposes, but rather that these will not be used by Turismo de Portugal, I.P.

Personal data provided by users will be stored in the Portal database owned by Turismo de Portugal, I.P., and may be accessed by Institute services and respective representations abroad. Data collected will be treated with total confidentiality, either by Turismo de Portugal, I.P. employees or by those of companies that Turismo de Portugal, I.P. hire to provide technical or other services in this scope, in accordance with Law no. 67/98, of October 26 (Personal Data Protection Act).

This portal also develops a database with merely statistical information, without any personal identification, with profiles, interests and countries of origin of its users. This information is used to improve the portal's reply to its users interests and requests, and may, for this same purpose, be made available to third parties.

Minors under the age of 18 must obtain parental or guardian authorisation before accessing or making personal data available on the portal.

Responsibility for content identification and pages accessed by children is from their parents or legal guardians.

4. Exclusion of Liability

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. reserves the right to suspend, modify or discontinue publication of all or part of the Portal at any time. Users accept that access to the website and its channels and services can be terminated at any time, with or without prior notice, and Turismo de Portugal can not be held liable for that fact.

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. commits to make all necessary efforts and diligences to maintain the normal functioning of this portal, with the possible availability and continuity under the existing technical means, adopting at all times the best international practices generally used in the sector, in particular regarding security and guarantee of both the confidentiality and privacy of portal users, also avoiding, by all possible means, the existence of viruses or other harmful elements that may cause changes in users' computer system.

Without prejudice to the stated commitment, Turismo de Portugal, I.P. cannot guarantee, and therefore declines its responsibility for damages caused by interruptions, malfunctions or deficiencies in the functioning of this website. Turismo de Portugal, I.P. cannot also ensure that the portal works properly at all times, and that it is always free of viruses or other harmful elements that may damage or cause changes in the user's computer systems or their electronic documents or files, being in no way responsible for any damages caused.

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. it also disclaims any liability for damages that may result from interference or behaviour of third parties that violate personality, intellectual and industrial property rights, commercial or industrial secrets, unfair competition and illicit publicity, as well as the result of abusive interference that may affect privacy and the security of using the portal.

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. will make every effort to ensure that information and facts on the portal are among the best and most relevant. However, Turismo de Portugal, I.P. makes no warranty, express or implied, that portal information that is provided, produced or issued by third parties is always updated and correct and does not assume any responsibility for the direct and / or indirect consequences arising from the use of the information provided. Turismo de Portugal, I.P. therefore recommends that portal users directly contact the organisations and companies mentioned, in order to confirm the information gathered. 

Turismo de Portugal, I.P. appreciates users informing the entity whenever they find incorrect and / or outdated information on the portal, so that it can be corrected.

5. Forwarding Enquiries

Enquiries submitted through the "Contact Us" channel may be sent to other entities more qualified to clarify or provide the requested service. This forwarding is done individually and never as data files and it is made known to the user.

Personal information will only be transmitted to other entities in the case previously identified and whenever it follows from applicable legislation or when Turismo de Portugal is bound by a court decision.

6. Cookies

The portal uses a mechanism called 'cookies', which are small text files stored on the users' computer, allowing Turismo de Portugal, I.P. to identify the computers that access this website and which content is of interest to its users.

Cookies do not store any user identifying information.

Although Turismo de Portugal, I.P. does not share with third parties any individualised information, even if not identified, this portal keeps aggregated statistical information about user preferences, and may transfer it to official entities of the tourism sector.

Cookies allow this website to recognise a user's computer on a subsequent visit, acting on the new visit as a continuation of the previous one.

If you register and log in to identify yourself, the portal will retrieve the information already stored about the user, even if that information has been captured on another computer.

The use of cookies can be turned off on your computer. On some operating systems and / or browsers it can be turned off only for certain websites. Check your computer's manual for this operation.

By disabling the use of cookies, the portal will treat you as a new user whenever you access it and will not keep any information from you between visits you make.

At the same time, the non-use of cookies may result in the inoperability of certain website features.

7. Links

The portal contains links to websites of companies and tourist entities and other sources of information that may be of interest to users. Turismo de Portugal, I.P. declines any liability with regard to the information provided by these websites, nor does it have control over the data protection and security policy of those websites.

8. Interpretation and Forum

Interpretation of these terms and conditions, as well as the resolution of any disputes arising within the scope of this portal, shall be regulated exclusively by Portuguese law and submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the District Court of Lisbon.
