The Azores are hosting a Spanish travel agencies meeting

About a hundred Spanish travel agencies are meeting in the Azores for the Technical Conferences of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV). The congress will be held in April 2019, on Terceira Island, with the support of Turismo dos Açores.

This CEAV event poses itself as "an unprecedented opportunity to promote this destination in the important Spanish market," comments APAVT (Portuguese Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism) in a statement. The challenge of holding the event in the Azores was launched by the Portuguese association, corresponding to a first initiative in the scope of the new Iberian Platform of Travel Agencies created by both organisations.

Pedro Costa Ferreira, APAVT President, said in the same statement that "contributing to the promotion of our country as a tourist destination has been, in our international relations, one of the pillars of APAVT's work." The fact that it takes place in the Azores is a "special reason of contentment", once "there is great curiosity by the Spanish trade, and great enthusiasm on the part of the Azores Autonomous Region."

Marta Guerreiro, Regional Secretary of Energy, Environment and Tourism in the Azores, stressed that "the holding of this meeting is of the utmost importance for our destination promotion, being certainly another opportunity for the Azores, and Terceira Island in particular, to provide experiences through the emotions that today can be experienced in the archipelago, that is more and more active and renowned in Europe at any time of the year".

CEAV President, Rafael Gallego, mentions that "these conferences will immerse the travel agent in the destination's culture, history, nature and gastronomy”.

Remember that in October 2017 the Annual Convention of British Travel Agents Association (ABTA) gathered about 500 people in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island.
