Casa Santos Lima (CSL) is a family-owned company, managed by the Santos Lima family since the end of the 19th century, dedicated to the production, bottling and commercialisation of Portuguese wines, currently the largest producer of "Vinho Regional Lisboa" and " DOC Alenquer ". CSL is present directly or indirectly in the regions of Lisbon, Algarve, Alentejo, Douro and Vinho Verde.
CSL produces wines known for their excellent value for money, exporting about 90% of its total production to close to 50 countries in 5 continents. It has been one of the most awarded Portuguese producers, and its wines have obtained in the last 5 years more than 900 medals in the most prestigious national and international competitions. It was also honoured in 2014 by the World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists (WAWW) as the 8th best producer in the world in the "Wineries of the World" ranking and is currently (since July 2016) in the Top 3.
Its vineyards in the wine region of Lisbon are located 45km north of this city, in Alenquer municipality, a privileged area of secular winemaking tradition, with typical rural landscapes of enormous beauty. The vineyards stretch on slopes at altitudes between 110m and 220m, benefiting from excellent sun exposure and a mild climate with the Atlantic Ocean breeze. This is one of the richest wine regions due to its diversity of vine varieties, soil types and climate. In the more than 200 hectares of vineyards of the Santos Lima family in this region you can find a huge diversity of the most prestigious national and international varieties, including some that were in the process of extinction such as the case of Preto Martinho. This policy had the effect of producing one of the largest collections of mono-varietals in Portugal.
