The World Travel Awards 2020 ceremony took place on November 27, in Moscow, Russia.
Portugal received a total of 14 awards, commonly named as “the Oscars of Tourism”. Some of the awarded were Madeira, as World’s Leading Island Destination, Algarve, as World’s Leading Best Beach Destination, and the city of Lisbon, for the fourth consecutive year, as World’s Leading City Break Destination.
The Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, Rita Marques, underlined that “We have shown the world that we are a safe country, ready to receive everyone, whenever possible”, also thanking “all the Portuguese who contributed so that Portugal continues to be among the best.”
World Travel Awards, on its 27th. edition, serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
