Portugal climbs two places in ICCA's world ranking

Portugal went up two places in ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association)'s ranking last year, ranking 10thin number of meetings per country, according to information provided by the organisation. In 2015, the Portuguese market was in 12thplace.
Last year, ICCA counted 287 events in the country, compared to 278 that took place in 2015. The organisation also estimates that, in 2016, Portugal received 72,622 people in meetings, congresses and other events. In the European universe, the Portuguese market is in seventh place, the same as in 2015.
Lisbon, in turn, also features in ICCA's top 10, ranking ninth in terms of number of events, keeping its 2015 position. In number of participants, the Portuguese capital is in 23rdplace with 38,753, occupying the eighth place in the European ranking. Porto shows up in 31stplace, with 70 events, an increase of 11 places compared to 2015. At European level, the city is in 20thplace.
Globally, Vienna was the city with the largest number of participants in events counted by ICCA and Paris the city with more meetings hosted. Seoul, Barcelona, Copenhagen and London occupy the other top places.
