Estoril Golf was initially designed by architect Jean Gassiat in 1929 and was later redesigned in 1936 by Mackenzie Ross, the first president of the British Association of Golf Architects. It is known as one of the oldest and most emblematic clubs in Portugal where two of the most important tournaments have often been held: Portugal Open for 20 years and the International Amateur Championship. There is a long list of famous players who have gone through Estoril: Ballesteros, Montgomerie, Sam Torrance, Canizares, Gene Sarazen, Peter Allis and Bernard Gallacher. Overlooking Estoril and the sea, this 5,200 metre-long course develops among eucalyptus, mimosas and pines that give it colour and make it an exceptional challenge.
