Portuguese regions launch new video promotional campaigns for pandemic times
Several Portuguese Regions have concentrated efforts in launching new promotional campaigns for this troubled pandemic period.
“It’s times like we live in that force us to stop, so we can start over”. And so starts the video of Turismo do Centro de Portugal’s new promotional campaign: “Haverá Tempo / There will be time”. Along with this message, we can see a woman wearing a protection mask.
The video follows a constant note of hope, illustrated by some of the region’s most distinctive landscapes. It ends with someone closing a window, a clear parallel to our present days, facing Covid-19.
Besides the video, the campaign is based on several images on social networks, always with the hashtag #haveratempo.
Turismo do Algarve has delivered a specific message to the Portuguese, by the theme: “Remember me. Algarve”.
This message is heard on a video produced by New Light Pictures, based on the region’s archive images. The voiceover of the local actor João de Brito reminds us a holiday postcard, written and signed by a “personified” Algarve.
According to João Fernandes, the president of Região de Turismo do Algarve, this video’s main purpose is to remember the Portuguese to stay at home and safe, and to postpone their holidays – Algarve will be waiting for them, when all of this comes to pass.
The Cascais Tourism Association & Bureau of Conventions launched an international awareness campaign, through social networks, totally aimed at the markets of Germany, Brazil, Scandinavia, Spain, USA, France, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
“For every dreamer inside, there is a traveler waiting to be outside. Thank you for staying at home. Continue here, waiting for you”, is a promotional video message that makes tourists aware of the importance of staying at home, so that they can dream again and enjoy the unforgettable experiences that Cascais has to offer as a tourist destination.
Finally, Madeira Promotion Bureau has launched a new promotional campaign on social networks, by the theme “Stay home now. Dream online. Visit us later!”.
During a first stage, the appeal was to stay at home (Stay home now). On a second stage, people are invited to keep dreaming (Dream online) and to discover the region through 20 online experiences that can be found on digital platforms. This message of dreaming and experiencing “Madeira in another way” is the new promotional video’s main theme, launched on April 20th.
During April and May are expected to be launched several new videos, about experiences available in Madeira and Porto Santo. This campaign is directed to national tourists, but also to 11 European strategic countries.
The Government of the Azores, through the Regional Secretariat for Energy, Environment and Tourism, together with the Azores Tourism Association, launched the campaign “Azores is taking a break” (“The Azores are taking a break”), showing that "It is time to take care of us".
“The Azores are taking a break” is the motto of the campaign launched by the only archipelago in the world certified as a sustainable tourist destination and “encourages tourists to stay at home, for now, for the short term to return and explore all the unique nature of the destination that will always be waiting for you ”.
In this way, "it is intended to inspire tourists to make plans for the future, at a time when it is necessary to respect the quarantine and isolation period in which we find ourselves".
