Portugal should have 80 new hotels by 2018, with half expected to be concluded still this year. According to data from the AHP, quoted by several newspapers, tourism ventures inaugurated in 2017 should reach 41, with a similar number predicted for 2018.

AHP has been receiving contacts from several investors to open new hotels, namely units with 300 rooms. The largest source market is the United Kingdom, followed by Germany and Spain.

The Government and public structures' goal is that national tourism has the capacity to maintain itself throughout the year, ending the seasonality that traditionally dominates during winter.
