The World Medical and Health Games and the International Sport Medicine Symposium have become, over the years, the most famous sports event in the field of health, since 1978.
The last edition in the city of Budva (Montenegro) gathered 1.200 people from 44 countries. Each year, about 1500 participants from all medical professions and from more than 40 different nationalities, be involved in about twenty sports, individual or collective, and respecting the values of Olympism.
For the second time in history, the World Medical and Health Games will be organized in Portugal. After Lisbon, in 1996, the 41st edition of the Games will be held in 2022 in the Algarve, municipality of Vila Real de Santo António.
The main themes of the international sport medicine symposium and the free communications sessions are presided and determined by Dr André Monroche and Professor Xavier Bigard (Medical director of the International cyclist union).
The 2021’s edition will take place in Vila Real de Santo António, Algarve, from 3rd. to 10th. July. The event will be supported by Turismo de Portugal and by the Algarve Tourism Association (Programme M&I Portugal).
