Guimarães recebe conferência internacional "Green Horizons - Shaping the Modern Age"
The international conference Green Horizons – Shaping the Modern Age will take place in Guimarães on 10 March.
The event is part of the celebrations of Guimarães 26 – European Green Capital, reinforcing the city’s role in promoting sustainability, innovation and scientific tourism.
Hosted at Teatro Jordão, the conference is organized by the CVR – Waste Recovery Centre, in partnership with PIEP – Innovation Hub in Polymer Engineering and the Landscape Laboratory. It will bring together experts, researchers, companies and policy-makers to discuss concrete solutions to the main environmental challenges of the 21st century.
Confirmed speakers include the Secretary of State for the Environment, João Manuel Esteves; the Mayor of Guimarães, Ricardo Araújo; the Chair of the Board of Directors of CVR, Cândida Vilarinho; the Coordinator of the Guimarães 2030 Mission Structure, Isabel Loureiro; the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, Jorge Moreira da Silva; the former Minister for the Environment and Climate Action, João Matos Fernandes; and scientist Rosa Vásquez Espinoza.
The programme features keynote sessions, technical visits to CVR, PIEP and the Landscape Laboratory, immersive experiences, sustainability routes and cultural activities, fostering learning, networking and innovation. Green Horizons also upholds a strong commitment to operational sustainability, implementing responsible practices in waste management, sustainable mobility, conscious catering and environmental monitoring.
