Portugal reaches one million guests in January

Tourism activity in Portugal continues its growth this year, according to the latest data. Thus, according to a statement from the Tourism Secretary of State "for the first time in January, the number of guests in tourism enterprises exceeded one million - specifically, 1,019 million people."
The same document reveals that "total hotel revenues rose 12.2% in January, reflecting significant growth in the Azores (+ 19.9%), Centro (+ 15.4%) and Lisbon (+ 13.7% ) ". With this performance, the growth rate of tourism revenues was triple that of the guests'. In addition, "the average stay also registered a positive evolution to 2.47 nights, such as RevPAR, which grows 11.8% to 25.1 euros," the report notes.
The Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho also points out that these data are a sign that "we are also managing to diversify markets, attracting more effectively those that are available to travel at these times of the year and that spend more in the territory, as exemplifies the 50% growth of the Swedish market and the US and Brazilian markets last January."
