The Convent of Christ comprises a magnificent monument complex, made up of several spaces: the Templar Castle of Tomar, the Convent of the Order of Christ, the Wall of the Seven Hills, the Immaculate Conception Hermitage and the Pegões Aqueduct .
The castle was founded in 1160 and by 1190 the Charola was the Knight´s private oratorium within the fortress. The convent was built between the 12th and 17th centuries.
In addition to the Charola, the cloister of King João III and the famous Manueline window of the Chapter Hall are also highlighted as important landmarks in the history of Portuguese architecture. The whole area as well as the old wall represent a space of remarkable natural and scenic value.
The complex of Castle and Christ's Convent has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1983.
The Convent has a considerable diversity of rooms and venues for unforgettable events, from more private areas, with a few dozen seats, to larger meetings rooms.
