Turismo de Portugal certifies establishments with “Clean & Safe” stamp

Turismo de Portugal has created a “Clean&Safe” stamp of approval to distinguish tourist activities which are compliant with hygiene and cleaning requirements for the prevention and control of COVID-19 and other possible infections, thus reinforcing the tourist’s confidence in the safety of the destination.
The scheme is free, optional and the certificate valid for a year. It requires the implementation of an internal protocol for companies that, according to Portugal’s Directorate-General for Health (DGS), ensures approved hygiene measures are in place to avoid risks of contagion, and guarantee safe procedures for the operation of tourist activities.
Turismo de Portugal, in coordination with the competent entities, will carry out audits of establishments that join this “Clean&Safe” initiative.
Initially applied, only to tourism enterprises, tourist entertainment companies and travel agencies, the "Clean & Safe" seal is now also available for Local Accommodation and Restaurants and Beverage Establishments.
Launched within the scope of the gradually relax some of the restrictions plan, Turismo de Portugal, the Administrative Modernization Agency and the Directorate-General for Economic Activities, with associations in the sector, developed the possibility for those establishments to also join the “Clean & Safe” initiative, as long as they undertake to comply the recommendations issued by the Directorate-General for Health.
The platform automatically sends a notification with the declaration of adherence to the Healthy & Safe Establishment seal, ready to be used, and the competent entities will carry out random audits to the adhering establishments. The Directorate-General for Economic Activities will publish, on its website, a list of all participating establishments.
