The latest report from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) for 2022 has already been released. Portugal has consolidated the prominent 2021 results, maintaining the 6th position in the European ranking of countries that host and organize the most conferences and conventions. The country has also maintained its 7th position in the global ranking, and the city of Lisbon has held its previous positions, occupying the 2nd place in both tables.

Considering the atypicality of the years 2020 and 2021, in the context of the pandemic, the 2021 ranking was based on the Destination Performance Index (DPI), which relied on specific performance indicators to assess destination results. Therefore, the results obtained in 2022 reveal the consolidation of the positions assumed by Portugal and Lisbon, in a scenario of gradual return to normality in the meetings industry, after the Covid-19 pandemic.

These top positions reflect the country's and Turismo de Portugal's commitment to creating attractiveness for event hosting, with the Portugal Events incentive system standing out. This program has been published last April and has already received 50 applications for associative and corporate events.
