Madeira Airport exceeds three million passengers in a year

Madeira Airport has reached for the first time three million passengers in a year, according to 2017 data from the infrastructure manager, ANA - Aeroportos de Portugal.
In a statement, the company said that Madeira airport has grown at a steady pace in the last four years and that it is positioning itself in a segment that is increasingly focusing abroad, since "more than 55% of passengers processed are international passengers".
The main outgoing markets are still the United Kingdom and Germany, "but Poland, Switzerland and Denmark, in clear development, were important levers for growth. In 2017, Madeira Airport was connected to 71 airports, with 50 operators," the statement read.
The airport of Madeira also benefited from works that allowed reinforcing and reshaping the track, remodelling floors 2 and 3 of the Terminal and other investments in accessibility.
